Since there is a lot of sentiment on this forum about avoiding third-party aggregators, I will share what happened to me the other day.
On my first day in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, I had booked a walking tour with GetYourGuide. I arrived at the meeting point fifteen minutes early and waited until starting time, but no guide was to be found.
I pulled up the GetYourGuide app on my phone and started a chat session with an AI bot. When they couldn't help me, they connected me to a real person. That person tried to reach my tour provider and came back after a minute to say they were unable to reach them. They gave me the option of rescheduling or a refund. I asked for a refund, and within 48 hours I had my money back.
If I'd booked directly with the guide and they were a no-show and I couldn't reach them, I'd have had to file a dispute with my credit card company. This was much simpler.
The moral, I think, is that third-party aggregators aren't necessarily a bad thing. They do protect you in cases like this.
