Report: Two day tours from Edinburgh with Rabbies

We just finished two Rabbies tours: the St. Andrews and Villages tour and the Loch Lomond and Stirling Castle tour.

These are great tours. Both were on 16-seat Mercedes buses. They seem to run full buses on their tours and they’re very busy. On each of our tour days, they were running 3 of the St. Andrews buses and 3 of the Loch Lomond and Stirling castle buses.

My only negative comment is that I felt the buses were very tight for an 8-hour day.

But both guides were great, they were well-informed, safe drivers, with a lot of enthusiasm for their job. The pacing of the tours was fine - 2 hours at Stirling Castle, 3 hours at St. Andrews, 1 hour at Loch Lomond.

I would not hesitate to book with Rabbies again. A fair price for a good tour.

Thank you for your Rabbies report Valerie. Very happy to hear they are a positive experience. I have four day tours scheduled in June and July; two from London and two from Killarney.

Valerie, thanks for the positive report. I've been thinking of booking a few day trips with Rabies for our next Scotland trip.

We did a day trip from Glasgow and a 4 day tour in England with Rabbies and loved them. My husband does not like group tours but loved these.

Thanks for posting! We took the Rabbies St. Andrews tour in 2023, along with two other tours. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed walking the Old Course - it was a Sunday, so it was allowed.

I was traveling when you first posted this, so just seeing it now.

If you don’t mind, I have a few questions on the St. Andrews tour as I have been back and forth on this one for a while now.

What did you think of the other stops on the tour—Anstruther and Falkland?

Where you happy with the amount of time allowed for St. Andrews? Or would you have liked more time there?

Based on the itinerary, it looks like you arrive at St. Andrews in the afternoon. Did it seem crowded?

Seeing St. Andrews on my own would involve a train + bus or just bus. I am not a fan of busses.

Thanks for the reviews. I know they offer tours in Ireland too but I’m unsure what they provide. Are these guided inside the sites or just transportation to the sites? And is the entry cost included? Thanks….
