We'll be in Verona in September and the four of us would like to take a day tour for wine and good. Our preference is not a large group, but a small group or personalized tour. We'd love to go into the mountains to experience family-owned wineries and learn to make the local specialties for food. Any suggestions for operators or a Rick Steves guide?
Try Googling Trentino wine tours ( or tasting) and see what comes up. I saw one for €740 for four persons, two wineries and lunch, but that seems pretty pricy. There were others as well.
Thanks, Lola. I think we may gave found the same tour. Through Pagus tours? I'll do a little more looking, but this looks like a good option.
We did a half day tour with Pagus Tours last May--it was the Two Ammarones tour. Our tour guide was Sophia, and she was great--very informative and friendly. We went to a very small family winery and to a larger one, both in the Valpollicella region. Both had plenty of cheese and crackers, etc to eat with the wines. Her van sat eight and there were seven of us on the tour. It was conducted in English, the common language for all. We met around 2:00 and were back a bit after 6:00, and several of us ended up going out to dinner together with a recommendation from Sophia. That timing gave us time to do some sightseeing in the morning.
