Private guide for day trip to Morocco’s Blue City from Rabat

Four of us traveling to Morocco in late September. We are going a couple of days early before our tour and would like the name of a good private guide to take us to the Blue City. Hoping one of you has done this and has a good recommendation.

Hi Jane, I am tagging on your question. We have just changed some fall plans and are considering Morocco as an alternative. Definitely want to see the blue city as well! Curious which tour company are you using? I am over whelmed at the options... It’s interesting I do not see it included in any itineraries.

Are you considering Chefchaouen for an overnight trip or a day trip? From Rabat it's probably four hours one way / eight hours round trip, which could be challenging for a one day trip. With an overnight stop it's more doable. If you only have a day to commit, a closer option (about two hours each way) could be Asilah, which doesn't get the same amount of press, but is charming and has amazing murals.

Or, if you've got the time for it, another option is to take the TGV to Tangier, base yourself there for two nights (and stay at the amazing La Tangerina), and have time to see Asilah, Tangier, and Chefchaouen. Folks on this forum are very hard on Tangier, but I think some of it may have been from not having been there more recently.

For guides or drivers, I don't have a specific name to recommend, but usually your lodging / riad can arrange things for you.
