Pina Esposito: Best Guide to Naples and Environs

Booked on a 9-day tour of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast in March 2014, I desperately wanted to see sights in Naples not included in the tour itinerary. I decided what I needed was a local guide. I was introduced to Dr. Giuseppina (Pina) Esposito by means of Rick Steves’ Snapshot [of] Naples and the Amalfi Coast, 2013, p. 11. Pina accommodated all my wishes with no surprises. While her expertise in the art and history of the region is both expansive and impressive, I was especially delighted by her warm and engaging personality. After just a few hours together, I felt as if we had been friends for years. On the nine day tour, I visited Amalfi, Positano, Sorrento, Capri, Paestum, Pompeii, and Herculaneum, but that day in Naples with Pina was indeed the highlight of my trip. For me, she illuminated the treasures of the Duomo, Caravaggio’s Seven Acts of Mercy at the Pio Monte della Misercordia , and the Capodimonte masterpieces (which we viewed practically by ourselves) with authority and passion. She was my personal guardian angel through the “mean” streets of Naples. Acting as my translator and interpreter, she taught me how to inquire for senior discounts, how to handle surly cab drivers and how to grab a seat on crowded trains. Grazie mille Pina. Highly recommended. For further information contact:
