I highly recommend the Overlord Tour company for an extremely interesting, comfortable, and meaningful tour of the D-Day sites. Our tour guide was Thierry, and he provided expert information at all sites for the entire day. He was extremely knowledgeable, filling in background details and providing local color while covering the historical events of the Normandy campaign. The small size van (16 passengers) was comfortable and the size of the group was not at all overwhelming.
We took an Overlord tour in 2022 and would also recommend it.
We just returned from France and took the recommendations from many on this Forum for the Overlord Tour. They have tours for US, Britain, and Canadian beaches and the van sizes will vary depending on the size of the group. The US tour we took held 16 people and was very comfortable. The guides are knowledgeable and you have plenty of time at each site to take pictures.
Bayeux Overlordtour
We did a full day tour of the D-Day landing beaches with Overlordtour yesterday. We highly recommend them from booking (they are very responsive with any questions we had even after we booked) to the vehicle/small group size, to the tour.
Steven, our guide, (retired British airborne) was informative and a great guide. We highly recommend this company.
Our family took the full day Band of Brothers tour from Overlord Tours in May 2025. Our experience with Overlord Tours was outstanding. Remy was our tour guide and his depth of knowledge and ability to communicate so many details in a very interesting way made it a day none of us will forget. I am a history buff and have been reading books about Normandy since I was in grade school. This tour helped me complete a bucket list goal. We had a week long family vacation in Paris and Bayeux. We saw many incredible things at both locations. However, all four of us each had a different moment from the Band of Brothers tour that was the respective highlight of the entire trip to France.
Our tour visited Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery, Point du Hoc, St. Mere-Eglise, Brecourt Manor, and Marmion Farm. Overlord Tours has access to private property at Brecourt Manor. If you are a Band of Brothers fan, getting to stand in the field where Dick Winters led the Brecourt Manor assault with a detailed description from our guide, Remy, was worth every cent. Remy painted a picture of what the Americans went through and had to overcome at each of the sites we visited. Remy also had many great book recommendations for those who wish to keep learning about Normandy. We highly recommend Overlord Tours and would use them again.
Thierry from Overlord was our guide to Normandy. I told him that my family had a relative buried in the American cemetery at Normandy and he arranged to have a small service while we were there. Very thoughtful of Thierry.
He was very insightful with his knowledge of Normandy as well and the history of the Omaha beach landing. Thank you again Thierry!
Hi - I arranged a custom itinerary with Overlordtours for March, 2025. our guide Guillaume was terrific - both good and informative company. To give you an idea of how skilled and flexible Guillaume was, when we mentioned some aspect of the campaign, he whisked us right to it. Whether it was the Brecourt Manor assault, a pill box made into a house, or a final day last-minute request to walk the same sand where the Queen’s Own hit the beach (we are Canadians) at Bernières-sur-Mer, Guillaume was clearly great at what he does. I mentioned my hazy memory of two American medics and a bloody church bench, and immediately he took us to the Church of Saint-Côme et Saint-Damien in Angoville-au-Plain, and kept the kids fascinated by the details and story of medics Wright and Moore, describing the battle outside the church. This small mention resulted in one of the most memorable moments of the tour, for my kids. We also did a run from our local hotel to Mont St. Michel with Guillaume that was super-efficient.
