On your own Athens, Greece

My daughter and I did a last minute on our own trip to Athens, Greece, with Rick Steves' book "Greece" in tow. We not only wanted to see Athens but also the surrounding countryside and ancient ruins - Delphi in particular. After ruling out the big bus tours because I was concerned about getting to the pickup area and when we returned getting back to our apartment. I discovered Athens has a Taxi Tour. This is a private tour in a taxi to surrounding areas - they also do the city of Athens tours. I chose a tour to Delphi. We were picked up at our apartment and dropped off there when done. I found that the Taxi tour was cheaper than some of the bus tours. We had 10 hours to go Delphi walk among the ruins, plus on the trip we stopped at various place of great interest including a beautiful monastery. I chose Andreas Bolias, www.athenstours365.com, because of the excellent reviews he received and they turned out very true. He was so good that we booked another tour to Corinth with him and was lucky enough that he had an opening. Just wanted to let anyone going to Athens know there are ways to get around without taking the big bus tours.

Thank you! We are only in Athens about 20 hours in September, so we have contacted them for a tour, based upon your recommendation.
