Normandy Beach Tour with Ed Robinson

When I first contacted Ed Robinson via his website I was skeptical if someone would be able to impart the history of the Normandy area to my grandchildren, ages 12 and 13, while keeping their interest without the expected teenage boredom. I was never more pleasantly surprised. Not only did Ed Robinson prove to be an avid military historian but also an excellent teacher which often times is not coupled with the mastery of the subject. Mr. Robinson kept the minds of all of us - from teenagers to 42 to 70. His research of the subject was evident with sharp comparisons of 1944 photographs to the actual scenes of today. At the end of eight hours we all felt like we lived the assault of the beach and felt sadness and comfort in the American cemetery. My grandchildren said it was the best part of their trip, and we all felt that at the end of the day we had all made a new friend. I would recommend this tour to all who want to relive history and enjoy doing it!

Ed Robinson is Normandy at its finest. My family was truly impressed, from my young grandson who is 12 to yours truly who is 70. June 6, 1944 will never quite be the same to me or my family thanks to Ed Robinson. He literally made you see the various positions of the combatants and, with the aid of a magical Irish brogue, I felt the concussions of the bombs and the whiz of the bullets and the ghosts of yesteryear. You actually could “see” the invasion unfolding through his story-telling. The culmination of the experience was on the sacred grounds of the American Cemetery above Omaha Beach. Hard to explain the feelings you encounter here. Ed Robinson is a historian, an entertainer, and a professional. Ed’s tour is a profound experience which truly makes Normandy come alive and way more meaningful than any history book or Hollywood production.
