In Siena (or Tuscany in general), book a tour with Roberto!

We booked a day tour from Siena with the guide Rick recommends in his Italy guidebook, Roberto Bechi (Tours by Roberto). I think we piggybacked on another couple's custom tour, so the itinerary wasn't quite what we had expected, but it WAS wonderful! We had the best time. Roberto took the four of us from Siena out into the Tuscan hills in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. We stopped at an Etruscan museum in Chianciano, and Roberto walked us through all the amazing highlights of the museum, showing great knowledge and passion of the subject. We then drove to the very small walled hilltop town of Monticchiello, toured the town and learned its history, and then enjoyed a delicious antipasto sampler lunch on a terrace with a beautiful view of the valley. From there it was on to the larger town of Montepulciano, where Roberto again demonstrated his amazing depth of knowledge, and then back to Siena. Throughout, he also demonstrated his sense of humor. I had no idea a guided tour could be so much fun! We won't hesitate to book another tour with Roberto if the opportunity arises. Thanks to Roberto for a great tour, and to Rick for a great recommendation!
