In Ortisei, how easy is it to access the various cable cars?

Husband and I are in early '70's, mobile, enjoy easy hikes and will have no car. We will be in Ortisei mid-Sept. Thank you.

Ortisei is the BEST location you can ask for.
However, before you book your hotel, check with us first. It's because some hotels are located on slopes and it takes quite a long walk from these hotels to downtown.

Also, the lifts shut down off season. You want to be sure they are running on your chosen dates.

Mid Sept all lifts should be running in Val Gardena. We were there in early Oct last year and a few lifts had closed for the season. Not really a problem there was access to more than we could do. Here is a link to this years schedule :

Get a copy of Walking in Italy's Val Gardena: 23 Easier Walks in the Dolomites near Ortisei, Selva, and Santa Cristina, by Laurel Barton, a poster on this forum. She tells you everything you need to know in detail. We used the book and had a wonderful trip a few years ago ('70's, mobile, easy hikers/walkers, no car).

Thank you, Barkinpark, Bets,Brad and Janet. We will be in Ortisei Sept. 14-19. Would love to hear any hotel recommendations you may have. Our budget is 'mid-range, but decent'. Am looking at Hotel Garni August which was recommended, but unsure if that is the best for us. Your thoughts? Thanks!
