Florence-Cooking class and/or wine tour?

My husband and I will be in Florence for 5 nights in mid October. I would like to spend a day or two with a wine tour and/or cooking class. A friend recommended Villa Pandolfini cooking class and Dino Diacciati for vineyard visits, wine tasting and lunch. Is anyone familiar with these or can provide me with other suggestions? Do you think this is a good use of our time? We could rent a car but I thought a tour might be better. Thanks so much! We have been on 2 RS tours and enjoyed them immensely but some cheap plane tickets became available and we grabbed them and decided to do this on our own.

I can't speak to either, though the cooking class looks nice and they provide transportation.

I think the big advantage for taking tours instead of renting a car is that you don't have to worry about doing a wine tasting and then driving. We did a wonderful food and wine pairing at Castillo di Verrazzano. With the winery tour, it was most of the day. The owner and his staff were evaluating the new vintage and the owner kept bringing us samples to get our feedback. Luckily, we were staying in their agriturismo on the grounds. I was in no shape to drive!

I’ve done several cooking classes in Florence and my favourite by far is the Accidental Tourist wine and cooking combination. It’s a small group, they pick you up in a van for the ride into the Tuscan countryside to a small winery, then on to a fabulous home for a lesson in making fresh pasta followed by dinner. I highly recommend it!
