Excellent Guided Tours in Rome

My traveling companions and I wanted to hire a personal guide for some of Rome's most popular sites to avoid the long lines and to also get more focused information on what we were seeing. Looking to Rick's book on Italy, we found that he recommended, among others, Giovanna Terzulli. We contacted Gio and she was our guide for three days. We could not have been more pleased! She is personable, fun and an extremely knowledgeable guide with a passion for the beauty of Rome. She led us through the Vatican, Borghese Gallery, the Coliseum, Palatine Hill and the Forum. We would hire her again in a minute and give her our highest recommendation. We hired private guides in a few other places, but none provided the knowledge base and ease with which she presented her city to us. Her contact information is in Rick's book on Italy, but I also provide it below for convenience.

Nice to have a name of a great guide.
What do many people overlook are the suburbs of Rome. There are bunch of historical sights and gardens/palaces to see there.
Our B&B host at OliveTreeHill.com is another great tour guide for the suburbs. Ivano has a midnight tour of Rome when the city is very quiet and easy to navigate. He took is to the top of a mountain and we walked down 2500 year old walking paths to the pagan temple, Palestrina. It is a special place 20 mi. South of Rome, east of Zagarolo.
