We just had an amazing day with guide Mutlu Bulut ([email protected]) in Ephesus. Several forum members have recommended him and I wanted to add our referral as well. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and will take you to all of the sites you are interested in as well as to his favorite restaurant in Selcuk for a fabulous lunch.
tnhlind,
Thank you very much for the recommendation.
Based on the referrral, we also had Mutlu guide us for Ephesus and environs and we were more than happy with his services.
I'm going on Rick's city tour of Istanbul in May and was thinking about hiring a guide service to help get me to and from Ephesus and tour me around that site after the city tour is over. Is it doable to tour Ephesus as a day trip from Istanbul or should I plan on an overnight in Ephesus? Would Mr. Bulut's travel expertise be a good source for that kind of planning? Thanks for any advice :-)
Were you planning to fly from Istanbul? What about after visiting? One full day in Ephesus is perfect, but if you need to plan around flights, I think it would be tight.
Do you recall the amount you paid for the guided tour? What sites did you see?
It was $200 for the full day, not including entrance fees. We had the Turkey Museum Pass so all sites were covered except for the House of Mary. We had a rental car, but if you don't he can arrange transportation which would be extra. We visited the House of Virgin Mary, Ephesus and the Terrace Houses, Ephesus Museum, Temple of Artemis and the Basilica of St. John.
Thank you, tnhlind. I was thinking of transferring to an IST airport hotel the last day of Rick's tour then flying to and from Ephesus the next day, then home from IST after that.
