Day Trips from Munich - Tour or Local Guide ??

We are going to be in Munich this month and are trying to find the best day trips to take. We can tour from Friday, May 10 to Wednesday, May 15 and have Eurail passes. We have seen all of the "mad king's castles", Dachau with Radius Tours (6 stars), and Salzburg in past visits. We are using Radius to see Nuremberg on Saturday, May 11. We are not sure if we should try to do Innsbruck or Rothenburg ob der Tauber, but all we can find are Grey Line bus tours. Names of local guides or tour operators would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ride the train down to Innsbruck for the day. It's about 2 hrs. each way.

You can use a Bavarian Ticket (Bayern Ticket) for as little as 25Euro all day long all over Bavaria including Dachau, Salzburg and the Ludwig's castles in Hohenschawngau. And you don't need a tour guide or tour company for any of those.

Viator sells other companies tours, charging those companies a hefty commission fee of 25-30%.

Book directly with the company and NOT with Viator. Find tours in either Rick Steves books or on Trip Advisor. Go to the tour website instead of booking with Trip Advisor which is also Viator.

Jack, hello! I saw this topic and couldn't come across. I suppose you have already chosen one of two options, so I would like to know what choice was made and your impressions. I, my husband and our child will be in Munich at the end of August. And I think that I could have the same question there, so I decided to try to revive this topic here and in advance.
