Day Tour of Montenegro from Dubrovnik

My wife and I just returned from a day tour of Montenegro with Petar of Dubrovnik Riviera Tours. We selected this company based on its mention in Rick's Croatia and Slovenia guidebook. This has been the single best day of a ten-day visit to Croatia. Petar met us at our Airbnb rental in Dubrovnik at 7 a.m., so as to minimize time spent at the border crossing. Petar is so friendly and accommodating that introductions seamlessly flowed into discussion about the people, politics, and religions of the region, from the perspective of someone who was born and raised in the area.

En route To Kotor, and after crossing the border, we stopped for coffee at a restaurant with a lovely terrace overlooking the Bay of Kotor. Continuing on, Petar stopped several times for photo ops and to point out historic and geographic features of the area.

Upon arrival in Kotor, Petar introduced us to our local guide who provided a fascinating 90-minute walking tour of the old Town. We then had 2.5 hours to explore the city and have lunch, before regrouping with Petar and driving to Perast, where we leisurly strolled along the shore of this beautiful resort overlooking the bay and Our Lady of the Rocks. Petar selected a different route for the trip back to Dubrovnik, to avoid delays at the border crossing, and we arrived back at our apartment at 5 p.m.

In the ten days we have spent visiting Split, Korcula, and Dubrovnik, enjoying each destination, it is our day with Petar visiting Montenegro that has been most memorable. We recommend his services to anyone visiting Croatia.
