D-Day Tours by Dale and Debbie Booth

A group of four took the full day American D-Day tour with Dale Booth in November of 2025.

This tour was the highlight of our three weeks in Europe. Dale has an encyclopedic knowledge of D-Day and during our nine hour tour we covered a lot of ground. By the way, Dale's van is very comfortable.

We visited all the important sites, but of particular interest was the church at Angoville au Plain, and the bocage, or hedgerow areas.

Dale has written a book about the heroic medics who used the small church as a field hospital treating wounded Americans and Germans. Dale's narrative transported us back to that time. Utterly fascinating. There are bloodstains on some pews to this day.

Dale also took us to visit hedgerows. It was easy to see what a great defensive position they afforded. In addition, Dale told us how and why the hedgerows were constructed in the first place. Hint: It involved the Vikings.

Our nine hour day flew by. If you have an interest in the history of D-Day, I urge you to employ the services of Dale and Debbie Booth. Five stars for sure.

I'm so glad you had a wonderful time with Dale!

I had him for a DDay tour on a Rick Steves tour and he was amazing. He started out asking if anyone in the group had relatives who fought in DDay. One guy had an uncle who landed on Utah. I was interested in a particular Advanced Landing Ground location. As the day proceeded he forgot nothing....as we stood on Utah he pointed out where the tour member's relative's unit would have come on to the beach. As we loaded up from another site he called out to me...we can't stop at the ALG as there is no lay by for the bus but we'll slow down and I'll tell you when it is coming up - sit on the right. He did and I was SO happy!

His comprehensive knowledge is astonishing!

So sad we did not get him on our Paris and heart of France tour. While our guy was good, I was hoping to get Dale.

I agree, Dale Booth is a terrific guide. He handled the Normandy day during the Paris and Heart of France tour I enjoyed in 2018. I'll always remember sitting in the church at Angoville au-Plain, tears running down my face as he described the medics' actions and the impact of the invasion on a local boy. I wasn't the only tour member shedding tears.
