Based on a recommendation from Ricks' guidebook on France, we contacted Angelika Simeon for a day to guide us through a couple of the Cro-Magnon caves in the Dordogne region of France. As a certified guide, she has privileges that regular visitors do not. We were scheduled to visit 3 caves, but couldn't get into one as several of the staff there had COVID. However, we did go Pre-history Welcome Center and Museum (fantastic!), Grotte de Font de Gaume and Grotte de Rouffignac. Angelika's years of research on the caves really shown through in her interpretation of what we were seeing. The cave paintings are completely inspiring. Angelika also showed us a restaurant built into a rock wall, something we would have never found on our own. We had a delightful lunch together.
We recommend Angelika without reservation. it was a wonderful day and a highlight of our trip to France in June and July, 2022.
