Witches Night

Has anyone been in Prague for Witches Night? Trying to find some experiences. Seems like a lot of fun but not much on any Prague travel sites about it.

Thanks

Interesting question.

The burning of the witches is something that tends to happen on the periphery of the city and something that isn't very well advertised. The Czech word is "čarodějnice" and you may need to google that nearer the time. Alternatively, check out the Prague Monitor in the last few days of April, and you might see mention of some planned events there.

Thanks so much for the response. Seems like a fun tradition. I will use your resources closer to the end of April. Thanks again....

I was there for this five or six years ago and there were events in the park on Kampa Island: a parade, a stage with a mummers type play and, if I remember rightly, people putting little burning paper boats onto the river.

We'd just stumbled on this and hadn't seen any prior publicity but this article, which must be a couple of years later, makes it sound like it was a regular event at that time.
