which side of the river

I'm trying to pick either the Hotel Atos or Hotel Salvator in Prague but would like to know people's opinion of which side of the Viltava River to stay in. Any opinions on which side to stay in or the hotels I'm contemplating? Thanks.

We stayed on the old town side but found the area across the river charming. We went over there for a wonderful dinner one night too.

I agree with Suki, the first time I stayed in the old town and loved it. The second time I stayed in a different neighborhood and I too had one of the best meals on the opposite side of the river from the old town just south of the castle district. It is a very nice area to roam and as long as you're within walking distance of the old town you'll be fine.

The Atos is on the Lesser Town side of the river which is generally considered quieter than the Old Town but this is offset by the Atos being on the corner of a busy road with a tramline. The Salvator is on the Old Town side so a bit noisier but that is offset by the hotel being in a quiet side street just off Republic Square. If you've been to Prague before then I'd go Atos because it's in an area that you will have not visited before. But if it's your first visit to Prague I'd go with Salvator because of it's location only 6-7 minutes walk to either the Old Town Square or Wenceslas Square and tram/metro connections. Plus the Salvator has a great Spanish Tapas restaurant.
