Which hotel in Prague?

We are arriving 3 nights early for a RS tour and need a place to stay. Two hotels listed in RS book are Hotel Maximilian and Hotel Hastal. We are staying at Hotel Leonardo for the tour but there are no rooms available there. Suggestions/advice?

Prague has too many hotels to choose from. I would try some nearby hotels short walking distance from Leonardo:
Aparthotel Bologna Residence, Cloister Inn, Betlem Club.

I went on the RS week long Prague tour several years ago. He does not have that tour any longer but we stayed at the House of the Big Boot which I enjoyed staying very much. You may want to check that hotel out, more like a Bed and Breakfast than a hotel as he is owned by a family and it is their house.

Here's the link for the hotel we will be using for the Eastern Europe tour in late August. They have been very easy (and accommodating) for booking extras days then. I can't vouch for the physical aspects of the hotel as I haven't been there yet! I would guess it's up to the usual standards of Rick Steves tour hotels and probably very well located. Have a fun tour! http://www.hotelmetamorphis.cz/en/hotel-metamorphis-prague

Second vote for the Metamorphis. We stayed there on a RS tour and it was wonderful. There are actually two entities that share the same front desk- the Metamorphis and the Metamorphis Excellent. Some members of our tour group stayed in the main building. Our assigned room was in the building across the courtyard. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. Every staff member we met was helpful and friendly. Look at the pictures on Tripadvisor. We actually requested a specific room based on those traveler photos and were accommodated for no upcharge.
The location is superb. There is a restaurant next door to the hotel which has high quality food at very reasonable prices. (The basement of this restaurant is where the hotel breakfast is located. Very nice selection of food.) We really appreciated arriving jet-lagged and being able to just walk out the door of our hotel buiding and into the restaurant. We made our arrangement by email with the hotel directly and took advantage of their offered car service from the airport. Our flight was late and then we were delayed with a luggage scrum and the driver just waited patiently for us to resolve all of that. It was a fixed price fare which made it stress free. I highly recommend the Metamorphis. It will serve you well to be able to be in such a good location, with helpful staff and amenities like a heated towel bar to dry your sink-washed clothes.

I don't know what your budget is, but we loved the Savic Hotel.

Hotel Josef is nice and modern and in the Old Town.

Hotel Questenberk is part of the Strahov monastery complex. The staff are lovely and the views are excellent.

Design Hotel Neruda is just under the Castle. It's very nice, but they frequently overbook people and swap them into the Golden Wheel Hotel which is across the road.

The Nicholas Residence is just off the Charles Bridge. It is small and personal. Just seven rooms.

These are all decent choices.

We stayed at Hotel Julian, where Rick stays on his Prague TV episode. We had no complaints. Great location, wonderful staff, nice breakfast, spacious room. Booked via email and used their car service for airport pickup. Just steps to a metro stop or easy walk to many places.

Texas girl, a few years ago I spent a few nights at the Green Garland Pension in Prague, which was very cosy and comfortable with an excellent location. Just a couple of minutes walk from the Town Square and Charles Bridge, but on a quiet street. Continues to have excellent reviews, and priced under $100 per night.

We stayed at the Green Garland on our 2011 trip, and I recommend it highly. Great locations and very cozy small hotel. Check the reviews, but it was great in 2011. We found it in Rick's book.

Green Garland's website is: http://www.uzv.cz/about/
We had a roomy room. Short walk from the "Clock" and Charles bridge. During our visit four of five years ago they served a very good and substantial "continental breakfast", much more than a french crescent and coffee.

Highly recommend Hotel Julian. Friendly staff, comfortable and clean. Short walk to Old Town and Jewish Quarter. Writing this as I sit enjoying the evening on their terrace and sipping wine!

I would highly recommend the Hotel Pod Vezi in Prague. We stayed there for 3 nights in early May and loved it. It is right next to the tower on the west side of the Charles Bridge (about 50 yards to the bridge!). The staff was great, the rooms were large, and the restaurant there was very good also.
