Where to stay in Cesky Krumlov

Where have you stayed or would you recommend staying in Cesky Krumlov? We will only be there for one night, and want it to be convenient to the sights. We will have a car.

We stayed at the Castle Apartments recommended by Rick. Nice room, breakfast, and people. Right in the center.

Pension Barbakan is convenient with a car. Just outside the pedestrian center, you can pull your car up in front to unload luggage. They offer parking for a small fee, either in front of the pension or in a garage. It's a short (<5 min?) walk into the center. The castle is about 10 minutes.

Hotel Garni Mysi Dira: http://en.accomodation.ceskykrumlov-info.cz/

Just a few steps into the old town tourist area. Quiet, clean, excellent breakfast. We enjoyed a comfortable double room with balcony overlooking the river. I think we paid a bit extra for a reserved parking spot in front of the hotel.

A while ago we stayed at the Hotel Konvice for a few nights. Our room was attractive and very large. Breakfast was extensive. It was close to a square that housed the TI office.
A favorite memory was a canoe trip down the river...also in May. Safe travels.

Castle Apartments were a great night’s stay for us in the heart of the town....they will send you down the street for your lovely breakfast at a hotel that is much larger and serves a buffet.....it was wonderful.

Another vote for Castle View Apartments. It is centrally located. We had recommendations from friends and and the RS Forum. We were there a week ago and spent 2 nights. It was a nice place for downtime between Budapest and Vienna. As mentioned up thread, a delicious breakfast was included at the lovely Ruze Hotel. It was just a short walk away. If you are looking for a guided tour we highly recommend www.krumlovtours.com. Karolina met us at the apartment at 0800 and we had Cesky Krumlov to ourselves! Her tour goes off the beaten path. Her knowledge of her home town was exceptional. We also took the Barogue Theater tour following our tour. Well worth the 45 mins. to visit the oldest Barogue Theater. Our favorite dinner restaurant was Papa's on the river. We are not familiar with the parking.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying in CK, at least on a weekend, I say that because last night there was a very loud outdoor rock music party outside a hotel, not the one I was staying at. The loud music had to have reached across the river and rocketed down the narrow streets. I had a nice room, and it certainly wasn't the owners' fault. But I don't know how one can predict when another music party (think of an outdoor club) will occur. Maybe staying outside of the downtown would be fine. I think RS has some recommendations up by the train station. That would get you far enough away that you shouldn't feel the heavy thump, thump, thump. After a day walking up and down the CK streets, I really needed a good night's sleep.

we stayed at an AirBnB down by the river and the family was lovely with lots of great suggestions. Ex pat who has been living there for 25+ years. She and her husband own the Krumlov House hostel. The listing is listed under "a Riverside Retreat" and it has a kitchen, king bed, large bathroom.
