What's the best place to stay in Prague?

Will be in Prague in September for 5 nights.

What's the best place to stay to be close to things?

(Posted this same question about Vienna where I'll be before Prague and got great advice)

Thanks in advance

Staying in the Prague 1 district, which includes the medieval Old Town called the “Stare Mesto” south of the Charles Bridge and parts of the “Mala Strana” on the north side of the Charles Bridge puts most of Prague’s attractions within walking distance.
The Stare Mesto is where the Astronomical Clock and the Tyn Church are located on Prague’s Old Town Square.
I’ve stayed in apartments near the Old Town Square that I booked through a reputable rental agency that’s been around for more than 20 years at www.marys.cz
Also have stayed in a fantastic location right next to the Tyn Church next to Prague’s Old Town Square at “ Apartments Tynska 7” through Hotels.com.

Stayed at the Archibald under the Charles Bridge. 5 different times in fact will be there in about a week. It’s on the castle side of the bridge. Air, great breakfast and modern rooms. A couple of good restaurants nearby.

Stayed at the Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa in July and it was fantastic. Short walk to the Charles Bridge and Castle area. Very friendly staff and luxurious rooms and very nice breakfast. Air conditioning worked very well. We would definitely stay there if we got to Prague again.

We've been to Prague twice and enjoy staying in Airbnb's near the Old Town and Charles Bridge. This year we stayed in Mala Strana, across the bridge (castle side) and found it less crowded and touristy with good restaurants and easy transportation. We personally do not like the hotels or area near Wenceslaus Square.

We (60 and 74) have been to Prague twice and both times stayed in Hotel Anna in the Vinohrady district. It's a nice part of town and only a few metro stops to the main sights or a nice (but slower) tram ride.

Last year we spent a week in Prague (late May-early June). On several recommendations from people on this site we stayed at Hotel Anna. It was absolutely wonderful! A small boutigue hotel with nice rooms, quiet in the evenings, tasty breakfasts, within easy walking distance of the subway station, the Old Town Square and many numerous activities as well as bars, cafes and restaurants. Would highly recommend it!
