there are a huge variety of tours available in the city and the Trip Advisor reviews will give you an idea of what may suit your needs.I am a regular visitor to the city but have not done a walking tour for quite some years , though I did take one of the free tours a couple of years ago with a friend but I can't remember the tour company, it was good fun 3 hour tour

We are 2 couples who are in Prague now, have been here a week and we used the Discover Prague group our 1st day here to learn our way around the city. They meet just around corner from the Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Square. They are the English speaking guides who wear yellow shirts and you sign up at Celenta st 12.

We found our 2 guides (separate tours) to be excellent, well spoken and knowledgeable in all aspects of Prague - Diana & Petra were their names.

We did the Royal Walk our 1st day here (at 11 AM and 2 PM) that showed us Old Town, New Town, Jewish Quarter and pointed out other sites along the way etc. There were about 15 folks in total and it is a so called "free tour" that you tip what you think it was worth. We tipped 250 CZK ($10 each) for a 2/12 hour tour and we liked it so much that we followed up with another, the paid Prague Castle Tour, cost 300 CZK.

Prague Walker is a great company offering several different tours. I especially enjoyed their tour of the Jewish Quarter. www.praguewalker.com

I agree with Rich, PragueWalker is an excellent walking tour company. Last June I had Tereza guide me on two walking tours, and she's above and beyond amazing. If you and your husband decide to hire a local guide I highly recommend Tereza at PragueWalker.
