Victory In Europe Day in Prague 2025

Hi Folks

Looking at some travel for 2025, and one of things I try to avoid is being in place where most things are closed because of a national or bank holiday. Would like some advice on what is likely to be open/closed in either Prague or Cesky Krumlov on May 8 2025. Museums, stores, public transportation, etc. Thank you as always for your helpful information.

Can only speak for Prague but I'd assume CK would be the same. It's peak season so Tourism is not affected by the State holiday on May 8th, all sites are open (you'd find more close on a Monday than on May 8th) and the castle may have one of their "open" days where you can get in places not normally accessible. Public transportation runs like a Sunday service i.e. you'd have to wait 8-10 mins instead of 3-4. All state institutions, banks and large shops/supermarkets will close. Some small businesses may close for an extended weekend holiday. You'll hardly notice it's a holiday.
