Urbanism and art in Prague

I’m planning a trip to Prague. I’ve never been to Europe and am a big urbanist. I want to find some places that may not show up on any tour guide, like green infrastructure, creative or historical architecture, public transit, activities with bikes. You know, the stuff that is majorly lacking in most of America. It’s both a fascination and inspiration for me.

I also like beer, history, art, live music, and just hanging out in different places and imagining life in a different way. I welcome all suggestions!

PS- Sorry for the similar question under a few other countries, wasn’t sure how to go about a multi-country tour.

Abby G welcome. I was in Prague last September. I'm not quite sure what you're looking for, but the "dancing building" aka "Fred & Ginger" building is worth seeing. and it has a decent restaurant on top. But it's not exactly undiscovered. Plenty of historical places there too - just walking around you'll find beautiful buildings. The city was not destroyed during WWII so its pretty intact.

Last May we attended Open House Prague. Buildings/structures not usually available to the public are open. You definitely need to prioritize as one can't see them all, but it was fascinating.

The link for this coming year: https://www.openhousepraha.cz/en/homepage-english/

About what was open last year: https://www.openhousepraha.cz/en/2024/05/21/open-house-prague-2024-attracted-over-103000-visits-new-orangery-and-fanta-building-among-highlights/

Oh, and it's free!!
