Update on astronomical clock

We are leaving in about 3 weeks and wondered if there are any updates on when the reveal of the clock update will happen? I have seen several estimated completion dates but haven't seen anything lately.

August 31st was the original completion date. Scaffold has now been removed to the lower level so just the Clock and Calendarium to go back in. So 3 weeks from now it should be done but if local news gives an update I'll post on this thread.

If you want to see a real building site head to Petrin Tower, thats a real hard hat and safety boots trip at the moment.

That's what I heard.

I had posted a while ago about which to visit - Petrin Hill or Vyšehrad. Makes the decision a little easier, lol

I was up there less than 2 weeks ago, what a mess, lovely new toilets there though, but lots of work going on and the beer stalls and sausage kiosks have gone though there is a small place right at the tower, looks like a new café area is being built and just seems totally out of place.
I was in Vysehrad as well , nice peaceful eras and several places for refreshements, there is a beer garden just beside the main gate in ( look to your left and up the hill a bit) opens at 12.15 but no food available when I was there at lunchtime ,so had a beer and went elsewhere.

Nearly there. All the numbers are back on the clock, windows are in, cockerel is back. Waiting for the Apostles (fairly easy bit), the Astrological ring, mechanical hands, moving figures and at least one night for the Calendarium. Dare I say it, maybe another week!!

Thanks for the update, Jason! We leave in a week and a half and hope to see it in it’s full glory!

Time literally seems to have stopped. It was all going quite fast with the Apostles being put in, the mechanical hands and the Astrological ring but for some reason they've not moved onto the moving figures. It needs the Skeleton to start the process but all 4 figures are linked so maybe hit a problem. Crowds still gather on the hour and the bell is striking but not yet the whole procession. As my last prediction was somewhat off, I'll say it's got to be ready before October 28th. Seems a safe bet !!!!!????

I am sure I saw something on the Prague Ex-pats website saying that the official unveiling will be the 28th, I am back in Prague on the 1st October so will be nice to see it unwrapped again

Thanks for the updates. And I'm glad they are putting some effort into Petrin; last time I was there I was disappointed in how run down it had become.

We were there just a few days ago and I'll hazard a guess that it won't be ready by 9/28 - not that I'm a clockmaker but it looks like too much stuff need to go back in. Was hoping to see it in full action but maybe next time.

The figures of Death and the Turk were returned to the Clock this morning.

The restored Clock will be ceremoniously unveiled at 6pm on September 28. It will be nice to see it again. I never grow tired of explaining to people how to read all the dials on the clock. It's like a dear friend to me.
