Hello. Has anyone used Uber from the Prague airport to their hotel in the city center? Good or bad option? I don't want to spring for a taxi and it looks like public transport would be a little too complicated at that point. Can I just pull up the app at the airport and request a ride?
If you have cell reception Uber works in almost any major EU city. The App will tell you where the pickup spot is Public transport is not complicated at all in Prague. Prague is very tourist friendly. I would recommend Uber over taxis in a new city.
Can’t help you with Uber but I used this company both directions https://www.prague-airport-transfers.com/ and was very satisfied. They were on time and it was extremely reasonable, I thought. They were already waiting when we arrived and were right on time for a ridiculous 4am departure.
I used Prague Airport Transfers also. They were outstanding.
Thank-you so much! I will look into the airport transfers as well!
When I went to Prague in 2019 I used the firm mentioned by Raymonlee above. They were suggested by Ricks Steves ETBD for getting to the tour hotel. Driver met me just outside baggage claim and took my checked roller bag to the car which was close by. In some cities the Uber pickup point is further away in the parking lot or structure.
If you are getting Uber FROM the airport then you should exit the terminal and walk across the car park to the Courtyard by Marriott hotel and make that your pickup location. Anywhere else in the area is either Taxi-only or has parking/stopping restrictions. Expect to pay @CZK700 for a trip to the centre.
Our tour hotel is sending a driver for us as it was really reasonable for 4 people, so you could also try that. But the public transport options Rick gives in his book look pretty good. If our hotel hadn't been so reasonable we would be taking the Airport Express Bus to the main train station. From there, depending on where you are staying, you can walk or take the metro fairly easily.
Travel Tip: If you were to take the Airport Express to town then the cost of that ticket includes luggage. If you then transfer to the metro you either need a pass (1 or 3 days) which you can buy at the airport or the station or you need individual tickets both for you and any large piece of luggage. Remember that free city transport for people 65 or over does NOT include luggage.
We used the bus and then transferred to the underground. It was very easy. Bought the tickets online via the app. Activated them with the airport wifi, 90 minute ticket was under $1.50 each! The harder part was finding our hotel with all the nooks and crannies around the city center and walking the cobblestone with our suitcases! We figured if this didn’t work we weren’t out much and could always do Uber.
Okay, sounds great! Thanks Anne. I think we will do the bus and then Metro and then walk to the hotel. I guess that we can always take an Uber if we get stuck or lost somewhere.
