My husband and I will be spending 4 days in Strbske Pleso, then 5 days in Prague at the end of July. We have 2 free days in between and I was thinking about Bratislava, but would love to hear other recommendations. We will be traveling by train.

Bratislava is out of your way from Strbske Pleso to Prague. But if you want to see it, it's still doable. I would suggest Olomouc which is on your way. Pretty historical mid size city. Just right for 2 days or less. You can find good information about it in Rick Steves book: Prague & the Czech Republic.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve checked the travel times to and from Bratislava and that’s why I am rethinking that choice. Not sure we want to spend that much time on the train. I will check out Olomouc!
