Třeboň similar to Telč ?

Hello,

I will be spending 3 night end of Sep in Český Krumlov. I have 2 full days, Mon & Tue. I have tour tickets on Tue for CK Baroque Theatre and Castle Apartments. On Mon, I am considering making a day trip to Třeboň (via bus ~1.5hrs). However, by that time, I’d have already visited Olomouc and Telč. Would I find Třeboň too much of a repeat of "just another pretty Czech town"? I’m not interested in spa/brewery but love fish.

Here is my CK itinerary:

  • Sun - arrive CK 2p, booked river raft tour
  • Mon ?? - day trip to Třeboň or CK town and Castle Tower ??
  • Tue - morning: booked tours CK Baroque Theatre and Castle Apt; afternoon: CK town and Castle Tower if not done on Mon
  • Wed - leave CK 12p

With 3 nights, I should have plenty of time to soak in the CK magic, especially in the evenings. So I’m wondering if it makes sense to trade some extra CK time with Třeboň without short changing CK.

Appreciate any insight, thanks!

24hrs in CK is sufficient. You could do the day trip to Trebon and enjoy the evening back in CK. It is very nice when the day tourists leave.
You'll need to change buses in Ceske Budejovice if you decide to go. You pay the drivers directly.
Mind you that Monday the 28th is a bank holiday so timetables run on a Sunday schedule (slightly different)

Actually, I will be in CK that weekend as well and then headed to Trebic with friends on Sunday.
**SEPT. 28 is St. Wencelas Day so there will be some activities in C. Krumlov Fri-Mon.

A great vantage point is just beyond the Baroque theater... great for early morning photo ops.

Beyond the theater, visit the castle gardens and find the rotating outdoor theater.

That said, you could take a slower pace.

other ideas
Ceske Budejovice is home to original Budweiser if you have any interest in a brewery tour. Also, there is Hluboka castle in the area.

You could take take the train beyond CK (due west) to the border... Nove Udoli is about 2 hrs. The train passes through parts of Sumava Natl Park. At the end are a few old rail cars /beer kiosk-small area to explore. You can walk into Germany and see the old school signs indicating each country. (the original train tracks into Germany were dismantled in the 70s) The nearest German village is about 2-3km

Happy planning!
