Třebíč and city Telč or Cesky Krumlov

Hello there, would love your suggestion as to which place we should go during our visit to Prague.
As I research, I feel Trebíč and city Telč would be less crowded. We can only do a day trip.
Thanks.

IMHO all three are too far for a meaningful day trip. C.K. is crowded during a day but after day trippers leave it's a fairy-tale magic. Ideal would be to stay overnight. Telc has a very beautiful square, there is also a chateau there. The town is surrounded by two lakes. Even farther from Prague than Cesky Krumlov. Trebic - ordinary non-touristy town. It made it into Rick Steves book because of its historical Jewish Quarter. Not practical for day trip at all. If you want some nice town for a day trip from Prague, go to Kutna Hora. Even closer is wine town Melnik. Melnik is not in Rick Steves book, so no Ricknicks.

Třebíč.

It's lovely and it has one of the most intact Jewish Ghettos in Europe. It's a bit of a hike from Prague though. I recommend an overnight and staying in Hotel Josef 1699. Three of us stayed there in November. It was really lovely and much cheaper than Prague.

You can drive to Telč from Třebíč. The road is a bit hairy in places though, although some of that I put down to my boyfriend's driving.

Avoid Krumlov. It's just full of tourists. You'll get much more out of Třebíč. All three towns are far from Prague, so they overnight venues, rather than day trips.

Thanks So Much Everybody! This seems like a good start. I'll look into all of these options. Have our two kids ( 9/11) So will see what works best for all of us.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions for tours or reasonable private tours for these places.
Thanks Again!

Thanks for your recommendation Brad. We are going to stop by Trebic & Telc on our way from Vienna to Prague!

"You can drive to Telč from Třebíč. The road is a bit hairy in places though"........Marcus, does that mean the road is not in good condition?

Thanks.

The road condition is fine, but there are some sudden bends and dips, which require care.

All of these destinations are extremely far from Prague. We did CK as a daytrip, with the car and driver recommended by Rick Steves. (He also does one-way city transfers, but 4 in one sedan would be crowded.) I think the previous posts are a little hard on CK. You could say that Bruges (an even more popular medieval town) is more crowded than CK. One of our targets (perhaps not of interest to you) was one of the three remaining Baroque Theaters in Europe. However, the once-daily tour that's in English sells out quickly, and requires early arrival to buy the tickets from the non-English speaking civic employee.

There are evidently open-air (I mean like hiking and kyaking) options near CK, maybe good for kids tired of stuffy old buildings. I wish we had had enough time for the Three T's. You did not say whether you have a car or not. I don't see how you could do the T's without a car.

Hi Tim, we have booked a private trip to CK. We leave early morning from Prague to see CK. Can you please tell me the name for the tour of the Baroque Theaters.

We are also taking one way private car with driver/guide from Vienna to Prague and we will visit Trebic and Telc on our way. We might not be able to do justice to those towns. But, I love to do photography and Telc town square looks just too beautiful to miss.

Thanks Marcus for updating on the road conditions. Is it a hilly area?
