Hi Lorraine, to get an idea what the weather patterns will be like, look on www.weatherbase.com. It looks like Prague has an average temperature of about 37 degrees in November so it will be cold. As for day trips from Prague you have lots of good options. Consider the following options: Kutna Hora, Terezin Concentration Camp, Litomerice, Krivoklat Castle and Karlstejn castle. Most guidebooks on the Czech Republic will cover them like Lonely Planet or Rick Steves. All of these are doable as a daytrip from Prague. To find train schedules, check on www.bahn.com. You may not be able to buy tickets for just Czech Rep. there but you can certainly see the schedules. Hope this helps.

If you’re thinking of hiring a private tour guide (which we found to be really great – much better than a group tour!), definitely contact Radek. He is absolutely charming, well-informed about the entire history of Prague (and the Czech Republic as a nation – including art and social issues). You will have a fantastic time with him. He charges 600CZK per hour – we hired him for a full day and had a great day (well worth the price). But he can do half-days, a couple of hours – whatever you would like. He was also very helpful with planning day trips (at no extra cost - we corresponded for several months in advance of our trip and he was great about providing unique ideas for areas outside Prague).
