We will be cruising in mid May and an looking for an eaay, safe and quick way to get from Passau to Budapest. I can't seem to find a train. What other options are there?

Yes, there is a train. Use the Deutsch Bahn website.

Why is this question under Czech Republic? Train goes from Germany via Austria into Hungary. Going via Czech Republic would be a significant detour.
