Trains in Czech, Poland, Hungary and Austria

Hi,
I am planning a trip in August 2019 in Czech, Poland, Hungary and Austria. I will fly into Prague. After that, I will travel by train.
Prague --> Krakow --> Brno --> Budapest --> Vienna

Do I need to book the train tickets in advance? I am taking all day trains. Is it risky to buy tickets at the train station a day before the departure?
Thanks
Calvin

If you have a big budget and want complete flexibility, then buy tickets on the day. If you want to save money, then buy in advance for a specific train. Advanced, online fares are often a third or a quarter of the walk up fares.

Good itinerary and I would go by train too, exactly as you are doing .

I think you'll only spend about $150 total to buy all four tickets on the spot in 2nd class.

Thank you all again for all the value input. If I like to check out the time and price for each route of train, do I have to go into each country train site, or there is one "train" site I can see the information?

From Krakow to Brno, the shortest journey is by bus. I took the RegioJet bus and it was very good. There's only 1 bus daily and it does sell out. RJ website is very user-friendly and offers a very flexible cancellation policy.

Also, Vienna is closer to Brno than Budapest.
