My wife and I will be traveling via train from Prague to Vienna in November. We have purchased two first class tickets and were assigned seats (in the 1st class car) automatically. We would like to change our seat assignments so that we both have window seats with a table in the middle. I’ve tried but have not been successful. Can I simply make a “reservation only” for the desired seats and then work with CD when we’re at the station ahead of departure to remove the automatically assigned seats? Is there a way to simply amend the seat assignments? Thanks!

if you go to the reservation only part of the website you can just book these seats,there is usually a small fee to pay, i did this a few months ago travelling from Prague to Bratislava, i never bothered to inform CD about the change but I really don't think that matters as the system is not that great.
I was travelling last week from Prague to Plzen first class ( I had booked via the app the night before), there was an Australian couple who were using the Eurorail pass and had booked seats at the last minute at the train station one of which was the same seat as mine ( they were traveling all the way to Munich), not a problem as we were in a 6 seat carriage area of which only 3 seats were being used.
