Train from Prague to Vienna

We are staying in the New Town part of Prague and then we want to get to Vienna by train. What station should we use? What rail line? Any suggestions for a train leaving Prague between, say, 10:30 and 4:00?

What class of service do you suggest?

Thanks in advance.

Use the ÖBB app for train options. It will tell you which rail line and which stations. I would choose a direct train. 2nd class is fine, 1st class is less crowded. Reserve seats in either case.

Go from Prague Hlavni Nadrazi (main station) on Wilsonova. You can take either the RJ train or the Regiojet.

My sister and I just traveled this route a couple of weeks ago. We traveled 1st class as we always do when traveling with luggage.

As the others have answered your questions, I’ll just add this warning from my trip report about the Prague train station so you’re aware:

We ran into a scammer at the Prague train station. They don’t post the train platform number ahead of time, so you have to stand watching the boards. Some guy approached me and told me platform number 5, even though he didn’t know what train I was waiting for or where I was going. Then he offered to take our luggage for us so we wouldn’t have to walk up 35 stairs. Thanks buddy, we’ll take the escalator.

I used RegioJet to get from Budapest to Vienna and it was fine - and a good value.

They have departures from Prague to Vienna near your time period at 9:16 and 13:16. Their first class, which they call Business, is four large seats in a private compartment. Their Relax class is a step below, in an open carriage with 2+1 seating, which is the typical first class layout on many European trains.
