I may be too early to buy 5 tickets for December 11 of this year ....... but need some advice. I went on “ man in seat61” which directed me to www.Cd.cz. Putting in a random October date , the price for 5 people looked like the equivalent of less than $70. Adding seat reservations was maybe 25% more. When I acted like I was booking same 5 tickets following Rick Steve’s link price was around $340. Any input is appreciated !!! Thanks!
That price the lower one sounds about right. The Rick Steve's RailEurope site prices are higher because it is a middleman markup.
Buying from Czech Republic is usually cheaper. If you bought from Deutsche Bahn, they have 125 EUR for 5 Prag Special Tickets nonrefundable. Walk-up refundable tickets are 278.50 EUR, or about $310 US, so Rail Europe is selling full price tickets plus a 10% mark up.
Thanks for the info! It is about 90 days out right now- any idea when they might be available to buy? Also I clicked box to “ reserve “ seats and it sort of looked like only one of five was reserved? Tickets showed “5” Reserved labeled”1”
I was able to buy my October tickets from Cd.cz within 90 days. Not 3 months in advance and perhaps not on the 90th day either. So check back in 1 or 2 days. Seat reservations (2nd class) for my train from Prague into Germany weren't available until 60 days advance.
Thank you- maybe last question then....if I buy now, do you think I could get seat reservations later? buying these tickets for friends and don’t want to goof up! Thanks!
FYI, train schedules change twice a year, in June and December (midmonth) -- I can't buy tickets on Deutsche Bahn until schedules for after December 14 become available some time in October.
For my train segment that allows seat reservations (one segment did not allow seat reservations) I was able to buy the train ticket 90 days in advance and the seat reservation when the 60 day window opened.
