We are planning a train ride from Prague to Nuremberg in May. All the schedules include a ten minute interchange in Cheb. Has anyone made this trip? It sounds like a very short interchange.
Cheb station is hardly comparable to Paris Gare du Nord or Hamburg Hbf. Ten minutes is probably five minutes more than you need.
The fast trains to Nurnberg from Cheb run every 2 hours. If you miss your connection take a walk into the centre for a coffee at the famous Spalicek cafe. Don't take the slow train because you can end up getting stuck at the station in Germany called Marktredwitz (personal experience).
Yes, take the RE line 33. It is not really faster than the connection via Marktredwitz (8 min), but it saves you the transfer there. But if you take the connection via Cheb, you should plan some time there; that little town is very pretty.
