Time in Prague (vs Budapest) - also posting on Budapest page

Our daughter is studying in Copenhagen. We are going at the end of November. We have free from MONDAY night to FRIDAY am.
Is that enough time to do Prague and Budapest? Alternatively, would you just do one country, or is this more time than needed to just be in one place? Thank you.

Personally, I am of the mind to really soak in a culture, so I would do only one.

I find so many people that rush through every church, castle, etc to say they've been there ( and post photos on social media) without really understanding what they are seeing.

Monday night until Friday morning means you have 3 full days ( Tues-Thursday). Barely enough time for one city.

What you want to do and what I would do are two different things. You would be hurrying through both cities (plus travel time). I have been to places that I actually disliked because I rushed through, returned reluctantly with more time, and changed my opinion. But I have been to other places where a day or two was enough to know I would come back.

Will you see much in either city if you go to both? No. But will you see enough to get a taste? Maybe - that depends on you.

But if you decide on only one city, I would say Budapest. Even 3 full days is not a long time and it will feel less crowded than Prague. It’s a lovely city with lots to see.

What if on day two you discover you dont want to soak in what you have found? I save soaking for trip two. So many places to discover and know way to no what I will most enjoy soaking in until I have seen them at least once.

But even for an introduction, it would be a hard two city trip. Too far apart. Either would be a good introduction. Read up on both and then choose one would be my suggestion.

Here is something on Budapest:

Wait!! Soak in the culture? Budapest bathhouse of course.

Seriously, if you don't have a preference choose on the best or most convenient flights. Both have discount nonstop from Copenhagen so it's about schedule and maybe support in making the trip meaningful
