Time Before the RS Prague/Budapest Tour

We are arriving a few days before we start the RS Prague/Budapest tour. I have looked at the itinerary and it doesn't look like we will cover Vysehrad on the tour. Any other places we should explore before the tour? We will be working through our jet lag so we will want to do some walking, but also sitting and taking in the people would be good too. Best places for that?

Hi from Wisconsin,
If the tour doesn't include Eger, I would head there for a night or two. The Hotel Senator is excellent. Good restaurants and wine country. In Budapest, check out the opera and what might be offered.

I would stay in the vicinity of Prague. Logistically it does not make sense when you are already in Prague to travel to Hungary and then back to start your tour. If you have time you can add something in Hungary after your tour.

I did a big long walk on a jet lag day in Prague. Was up very early, so checked out the Charles Bridge (few people!) then took the metro out to Vysehrad. There is a nice walk up to the castle from the metro, through the park, and the church and graveyard are pretty. Nice views from there. Then I walked downhill and followed the river walk back to town - passed the Gehry Dancing Houses - and took in the sights and sounds of families strolling and biking on a Sunday morning. I crossed over the Most Legii bridge to see the Memorial to the Victims of Communism. Then I wound my way back toward the river, passing through Kampa Park (pretty neighborhood) and looped back around past the Kafka museum and over the Charles Bridge again. I'm an outside activity girl, so the walk was perfect for me to shake off the long plane ride.

I also did a half day trip to Kutna Hora to see the bone church and the city - a smaller bite of historic, given that you'll have plenty of that in Prague, you may consider getting out of town for part of one day. Plenty of companies do guided trips.

Vysehrad is an ideal place to work off the jet lag. easy to get to from any where in the city ,there is a metro stop calle Vysehrad and it is an easy walk to the the main area, plenty of places for refreshemnt and something to eat.Great Beer graden there on the higher area to the right of the main entrance, opens at noon but last time I was there no food was available till later in the day. Great views from the walls of Vysehrad and you can go see Dvorak grave,
Divoka Sarka ( https://www.likealocalguide.com/prague/divoka-sarka)is a lovely area for a walk, last stop on the 20 or 26 tram (Divoka Sarka stop) takes about 25-30 minutes from the city centre, places within the park for refreshement. There is a McDonalds right at the tram stop but across the road are a couple of good places for beer and a meal.
