The Slav Epic paintings by Alphons Mucha

At one time these paintings were displayed in Moravsky-Crumlov but I understood there were plans to move them at some point. I have found a website that shows they are currently displayed at the National Gallery in Prague but it gives dates of 1/1/2014 thru 12/31/2016. This indicates to me they are just on temporary exhibit in Prague thru the end of this year and they won't be there next spring. Anyone have any info as to the permanent home for these paintings or where they might be moved to after Prague?

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

How annoying and sad at the same time. Been trying to work in the CR since 2011 and 2017 appears to be The Year!!!
This gives me an excuse to go back but Mom is 88 and we are planning this trip as her final trip to Central Europe.
Ugh!!
Laura Thanks for the info and it was an interesting article.

I have seen the exhibition twice and it is quite amazing , they even have a little video explaining how they moved the paintings and set up the exhibition , one of the most amazing art experiences of my life.I am back in Prague in a couple of weeks time and then again in October and may go and see them again.
sorry you are missing out.If you send me a PM with your address I would be happy to send you a small exhibition catalogue that shows very small pictures of the exhibition and explains them with short notes in English, would be happy to pass this on so your mother might just get a little hint of something special.
My own mother is 89 so anything we can do to make them happy is my only wish.

To anyone else reading this there are other Mucha based stuff in Prague , the Mucha museum is really lovely and they also have a great shop ,just a short walk from Wenseslas Square,

Just up the road a bit is a really great Czech style restaurant.

there is also the stained glass window designed by Mucha in St Vitus Cathedral , quite stunning when you get the light right.

I was terribly disappointed when I visited Prague in May 2015 and made the journey to the National Gallery, all excited about seeing the Slav Epic...and the exhibit was closed due to some falling plaster, not a planned closure but something that had suddenly happened. Still, I really loved the rest of the museum, and saw the Mucha Museum and the stained glass at St Vitus, but will hopefully some day return and see the Epic.

It looks like that if you want to see Slavic Epic in Prague, get there by the end of this year. 2017 it will be exhibited in Japan and China.
2018 it may be in South Korea and USA (I think I read somewhere - Chicago?). After that it's not decided. Two locations have been suggested in Prague: http://www.radio.cz/en/section/news/prague-3-suggests-local-exhibition-space-for-slav-epic
It's not ruled out that the exhibition will return to the chateau in Moravsky Krumlov. It would certainly revive tourism business there and increase tourism in nearby Brno and Znojmo. It is quite far for a day trip from Prague. However if it stays in Prague many more people would see it.

I do hope they find a place for it,Revolucni would be good as it is easily accssable from the city centre and lots of transport options to get there but Vitkov Hill has a lot less transport options and if folk try to walk up the hill from the city centre end of it they will need to provide defribulators for all the folk having heart attacks climbing it.
it would have to be an iconic building to fit in with the monument already up there.
I was in Prague last week but had no time to visit the exhibition or to get to Vitkov Hill but maybe in a couple of months time when I am back in the city again.

Ilya and Unclegus: thanks for additional info. No way I can make it there this year. The Epic will remain on the roadmap but just a little further down the road than I had hoped.
