The Julius Hotel location-Prague

We will be going to Prague mid-September for 10 days and was wondering if anyone had stayed at the Julius Hotel. We are wondering if it is too far from Charles Bridge; Old Town square, etc. It appears from a map that it would be about a 10 minute walk but we hoped someone who had stayed there could give us a better idea. Also your thoughts on the hotel would be great.
Thanks so much!

Yes, that hotel; I didn't realize there was another one with a similar name!. We are travelling for 5 and 1/2 weeks so I was really interested in the self service laundry. Did you happen to see/use it? The hotel looks very nice and the rooms a good size.
I will definitely check out your trip report.

Thanks!

My sister always needs to do laundry. It's the only way i can get her to pack light. :-) She did not do the self-service though. She had the hotel do it.

The hotel staff is so helpful. I’m sure they can help if you have any questions or issues using the machines.

Thanks for letting me know! I thought it was pretty awesome the laundry is in the building so that will be so easy to use. I think we will book a room!

Understanding what @Carrie said, I strongly recommend visiting the Castle District. The views of the city are exceptional, the castle itself is beautiful (try to be there when the guard changes), and the Strahov Monastery and its brewpub shouldn't be missed: outstanding food and beer. Getting there on foot is excellent exercise.

jphbucks: Thanks for the reply. We definitely will be going to the Castle district and the Prague Castle. Since we will be there 10 nights, we should be able to get in a lot; though there is much to see!

Let me throw out a few more fun and interesting places and activities you might enjoy:

  1. Letná Park and the adjoining National Technical Museum. The latter has lots of fun exhibits about modernization of transportation, home appliances and other technology that transcends the solely Czech experience.
  2. Vyšehrad Castle: great views and fascinating history.
  3. The Vinohrady District, home to many neat little artisanal cafés, brewhouses and restaurants.
  4. Memorial to the Victims of Communism (Pomník obětem komunismu), a sobering but also uplifting reminder of what Czechs suffered through and how they've come through the experience.
  5. Jazz Dock, a jazz club located right on the Vltava River riverside.

I love Prague.

Thanks for the ideas! We will definitely add those to our list. When we started our planning we thought 10 nights was going to be plenty but there are just so many things we want to see and do plus just enjoy and relax. Love planning!
