My husband and I are taking some extra days prior to joining an RS tour in Prague. We will be touring the Czech countryside and driving. We will definitely see C. Krumlov and want to spend a day in the Mikulov wine region (we love wine). We want to see so much more than time will allow. So...here is the question: if you had to choose between Telc and Olomouc, which one wins and why?? Thanks,

I would maybe try Olomouc. Why? Telc is very nice and cute, but it is very small, so this is something for maybe 2-3hrs if you want to discover the Castle and the tower. Olomouc is bigger and they have very famous and stinky cheese, so you have some little value added :-). But this is my opinion :-)
We went to Telc at dinner time after seeing castles in the area. We ate dinner, found an inexpensive pension on the square, and then went to the castle in the morning. There is far more to do in Olomouc and it's bigger - it's a university town. Great coffeeshops, great restaurants, great church with a wonderful overlook of the whole region, great castle.
