Everyone's posts have been a tremendous help. Thank you. I have planned a trip to Kesky Krumlov, Don Giovanni at Estates theater and bicycle trip to Troja Palace b/c of Travel Forum.
Our 5th Rick Steves Eastern Europe Trip starts at 3pm Monday 23 May. Do we have time to get to Tabor, tour Hussite Museum and be back to Prague before 1500 start of RS tour? Or should I consider doing something else?
if you get an early start it is possible.Trains take about 90 minutes and it is about 15 minutes walk from the train station to the old part of town.

there is also a very good medieval museum in the town if time allows .
sorry just thinking,23rd is a Monday and most museums are closed on Mondays, best check if the hussite museum is open
Thank you "Unclegus"; yes I am talking about a Monday. I had hoped to bicycle to Karlstejn but it is closed on Monday and most bike trips do not return to Prague in time for 3pm Tour start. Any other suggestions for our "free day". We have Don Giovanni opera tickets for Estates Theater, bike tour to Troja Palace along the river and private car to Cesky Krumlov Sunday at 7:30am and staying as long as we want probably not leaving Cesky Krumlov until 1800-1900 w 30 minute stop at Hluboka Castle.
We have until 1500 on Monday 23 May. Is Tabor worth it without the Hussite Museum or should we go somewhere else?

how about Pruhonice park, takes about 15 minutes by bus from Opatov metro, costs 80kc to get in and the bus costs 18kc each way (I was there last month). It is a really lovely botanic gardens and a real favourite place of mine. They are doing some work on the Alpine area but I think most of that work should be finished now.
bus info here.

I just checked www and April-Sept Hussite Museum is open Monday-Sunday. Do you recommend Tabor? We have never been to Czechia.
I see you are now recommending Pruhonice Park. Botanical Park half day sounds delightful. I am grateful for your faithful posts. Sally in Richmond VA
Hi Sally.
Great idea. Go to Tabor. It is well worth it. Also, eat in Goldie opposite the museum. Great food.
Marcus
yes if the museums are open then go to Tabor, it is a wonderful little town and one of the friendliest places I have been to, just get an early start and check the trains so you get back to Prague in time for your tour.
From the Hussite museum you can do an underground tour if you have time it starts from the museum and as I said in a previous post there is a great medieval museum which is inside the Tower on the far side of the town square
Thank you Unclegus and Marcus. Your suggestion are most helpful and allow me to fly Friday and enjoy Sat and Sun knowing you have given me two suggestions for Monday. Peace of mind is valuable.
you are welcome I hope you have a great time.
I loved Don Giovanni at the Estates ,my very first though not my last opera.I was there during the great floods of 2002 a very interesting time to be in the city,I was very surprised the opera went on at all.been to the Estates several times since , beautiful little place. It was actually used for the interior shots of the film Amedeus.
Oh oh oh, I loved the tidbit about interior of Estates Theater being used for Amadeus film!!!!! Yeah for tidbits.
Thank you.
Actually Prague is one big film set and there has been many big movies filmed there. One going on at the moment and you might see some activity beside the Metronome in Letna park.
