Hello, can anyone suggest to me which of these to Prague libraries offer the best visitor experience? The Strahov Abbey library or the Klementinum library?
Hopefully someone will answer who has done both. I have only seen the Strahov - and did that with a private guided tour for my group of 5 people. If you go there and can get the tour, as opposed to just entrance, do. It was amazing. Simple entrance does not get you inside the library rooms - just a look from the doors (at least, this was true in 2021 when I went).
I will be interested in which you choose and your experience!
I have been to both. With both you do not enter the library proper but see it from the doorway. I think I liked the Strahov one better as the rest of the area was also interesting.
I can confirm that if you are able to book a private tour of the Strahov, you do go into the rooms. Otherwise, not.
TexasTravelMom do you remember who you booked with? I found a 3 hour tour of the monastery and library, but it was about $700+ per person. Too much for my budget.
Oh, I booked direct with the monastery: https://www.strahovskyklaster.cz/en/for-visitors/tours. We made our own way to the monastery for our visit. In 2021 it was about $50/person but I would imagine more now.
