Ant recommendation for a good classical concert with a lot of Smetana in it? Have brochures for some concerts in St. Giles Church but I am not interested in organ music.
Thanks,
Gerry

The Municipal House and Rudolfinium both have many Dvorak and Smetana concerts.

The Municipal House auditorium ("Smetana Hall") is a magnificent Art Deco concert hall, worth seeing without any music at all. I have to say that the concert we went to there turned out to be a bit of a tourist product - fine ensemble, but only the river section of Ma Vlast was included from that larger work. Because of the beauty and sound of the hall, we didn't mind. This is similar to the problem of tourist music in Salzburg.
Tourists have to settle with what's on for the week they're in town. BTW, how can we answer your question, unless we live in Prague? I mean, if you asked me about the New York Philharmonic, I'd send you a link to their calendar and ticket site.

if you look at this ticket portal you can see what is on when you visit and look and see if anything is suitable
Thanks for the helpful comments Tim but really the other comment I have no clue why you would write it.
This is a forum. People post questions. Obviously my question was addressed to people that had been to a mostly-Smetana concert in Prague. I can look up schedules for dates and times; anyone can do that. I was looking for any comments on personal experiences.
And yes I agree, a lot of music is set up unfortunately for the tourist crowd. it's the same in Vienna.
Hi Gerry,
The answer to this question depends wholly upon your dates.
You could get lucky and catch a Smetana opera at the National Theatre, or hear the Czech Philharmonic playing in the Rudolfinum. Alternatively, you might be here in time for the Prague Spring Music Festival. For example, there will be an open air choral remembrance service at held at Smetana's grave in the Vysehrad cemetary on 12 May. Entrance is free.
As for booking online, it is much better to book directly from the website of the institution in question. I have just compared the prices for the same ticket in the same seat for the same show between that National Theatre and the BohemiaTicket reseller, I was shocked to discover an 80% mark-up!

Gerry, my wife and I have three subscriptions at Carnegie Hall, and also attend concerts at Lincoln Center, St. Thomas Church, 92nd St. YMHA, and elsewhere in NYC. None of those ensembles play the same program two weeks in a row.
If you had asked instead, is there a reliable Smetana concert for tourists in Prague that is available season after season, always the same program and the same "students" playing, I would have replied, "I only know what I heard the week I was there." I have extremely high standards for professional music, and I am sorry if I offended you.
Thanks everyone. I do appreciate it. If I miss things this time it's np as I will probably be back some other time and be better prepared.
Gerry , when are you visiting Prague, I am back in the city in a couple of weeks. I will have a bit of spare time over the week and can check out some of the theatres to see what they have on over the next few months.Got to check a few things out for a group I am bringing over in August so it is no hardship.
Thanks Gus but I am leaving Prague tomorrow. NP. Tons to do other than music but I did see the graves of Dvorak and Smetana.
,have you been to the Smetana museum , it is just south of Charles Bridge on the banks of the Vltava, even a statue of the great man there.
Not this time. Struck by the beauty of the buildings, especially the colors.
