I know that the Slav Epic was on tour. Has it returned?
it has returned but is not on display at the moment, I think I heard that a few of the massive painting might go on display at the municipal house sometime soon.
Thanks Unclegus. I will ask around when I get there to see if any of the paintings are on display.
I have been watching for this also. RS tour guide update says "Alfons Mucha's Slav Epic is back in the Czech Republic following its Japan tour, but does not seem to be on display yet. Part of it will be in the Municipal House July 17–Oct 31, 2018, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia." I hope that happens, because we will be there in September!
even if only some of it is displayed it is worth seeing. I have been lucky enough to see it twice and it truly is an amazing exhibition. The Municiple building in itself is worth a visit and you can do a tour of it,nice place for a meal or a drink and a place I often visit when in the city.
Thank you all. Unfortunately I will be there in early June so will not have the opportunity to see it. However, I will check the Municipal House as well as the Mucha Museum.
Oh no, I did not know until just now that it won't be available when we are there (mid-May). Bummer, was hoping to see it!
It was reported here that "copies" of the Slav Epic would be shown at the Municipal House. Smaller copies is probably right because none of the salons in that building are big enough to show the originals which are largely taller than 5 metres. It's been the biggest problem in that there are few venues large enough to properly show the whole collection.
Copies would just no be the same, the originals are quite stunning
The Slav Epic (well, nine paintings in the series) are going to be at the Re:Publika festival in Brno from May 26. Another great reason to go Brno!
And the festival runs all the way to June 17.
We saw 11 canvasses today at the municipal house in Prague. The others are on display in Brno.
they are going to be there till January. I am back in Prague in just over 2 weeks time so will probably go see them. I believe the exhibition is costing about 250kc to enter .
So sorry we missed this as we were there early June. We did go to the Mucha Museum but I really wanted to see the Slav Epic.
Hello from Wisconsin,
Roughly half of the Slav Epic is on display in Praha, the other half (9) are showing in Brno.
If you are determined to see them all...the train ride from Prague Main Train station to Brno Main Train Station is a 2.5 hour ride and costs about 6 USD or 138 CZK. A tram goes out to the pavilon H (yes, I spelled that correctly) from the train station.
Main Train Station in Czech is Hlavni Nadrazi abbreviated hl.n., do you are likely to see Praha hl.n. as a train station. Or Prague hl.n.
Train tickets can be purchased, and printed using cd.cz. Excellent prices.
The exhibit costs about 10USD to visit. Reserve those tickets in advance.

Are advance tickets needed to see the exhibit at the Municipal House?
