Side Trip Tour from Prague to Budapest

We took the trip on Sept, 2024. This was our first time booking with the sidetriptours, and we took a tour from Prague to Budapest. The driver/tour guide was knowledgeable and informative. He was pleasant during the entire trip. We really enjoy the whole trip, and if we have a chance to book with this organization again, we would.

Considering this mode of transfer as well.
How many did you have in the van?
Did you have plenty of rest stops?
Where do they pick up and drop off?

Thanks,
Lynn

I looked them up. A private drive is 525 euro for two people
Open group tours with up to 8 people in the van are 198 euro for two (search the dates and see what is available).

Three Stops:
Gyor, Bratislava and Lednice Palace. Appears to be organized tours at each stop. I suspect by the driver so it depends on how good he is for each location.

Thats a 6 hour drive, but the tour is 10 hours so something less than 90 minutes at each stop.

The day trip car is private and 460 euro for two people. The stops are voluntary and cost extra. 30 to 60 euro depending on where. The list a half dozen options that are 1 to 2 hours in length. No guide. They literally stop and leave you, then pick you up later. Its really just a long distance Uber service. Ive used them twice. Once Hallstatt to Salzburg with one stop and once Bratislava to Budapest with two stops. Pretty okay.

So the prices are so close it comes down to do you want structured, or to be part of a group and do you trust the quality of the tour .... or just a drop off service for your own exploring. The DayTrip drive can be modified however you want it for $$$, maybe the private SideTrip drive can be too. Dont know.

My daughter and I did the private tour. We took much longer time than allotted at the first stop, and we also took too long walking around the outer wall at the second stop - Bratislava. We told the driver that we didn't have time to walk to the castle and that it was okay to skip. He insisted to drive us up to the castle. All those gorgeous buildings along the drive! We ended up arriving at our destination one hour later than planned. It was a very memorable trip and yes, we tipped our pleasant driver accordingly.
