Running in Czech Republic

Hello. Traveling to CR in May 2018. Will not be there in time for the Prague Marathon, but noticed that there is a half marathon later in the month, the Mattoni Karlovy. Anything that I need to know? How does running in CR differ from the US - rules of the road, manners, etc?

yes that half marathon is in Karlovy Vary about 2 hours by bus from Prague. I was in Prague earlier this year during the Prague half marathon 2nd April) and it seemed well organised and on a basically flattish route.
Not sure how things differ in the States but in the Czech Republic loads of big parks you can run in without having to worry about traffic and lots of pedestrians though in some places the cyclists can be a pain .If doing just general street running just be aware of the traffic and that the trams will not stop for you, even on Green man crossings traffic can turn and must give way to folk on the crossing ,can get a bit hairy if not used to it.

Thanks for the response. Time is not an issue, not a thoroughbred. More of an enjoy the crowd, scenery, and experience runner. Looking forward to being there and being part of the crowd.

the Prague half marathon was great fun, some friends were taking part (me I am getting to old now plus knackered lung ),but fantastic atmosphere, bands playing at various points and a great crowd cheering everyone on.We stood at the end of Charles bridge to see the start then crossed the bridge to see them all coming round the other side of the river.Finished the day meeting up with our friends that took part in Letna Park beer garden.

Thanks for the info Unclegus. Noticed your replies in a lot of threads. Helps and means a lot to those who have never been there and want to make the most out of the trip.

You can enjoy running in Prague. There are many persons running on its streets, especially in early morning. Prague is a running city, similarly as other European cities as Copenhagen or my city - Szczecin. All of them have many paths and parks.
