Hello,
Just wondering what the current situation is in Czech Republic regarding the refugee crisis in Europe? Will be traveling there relatively soon so just want to be safe / prepared. Thanks!
I am in regular contact with friends in the Czech republic via facebook and email and none of them are saying anything about any refugee situations in the country.
There are refugees there but you won't see them. There are much fewer than in Germany, Austria or Hungary. Most of them enter from Slovakia by train on their way to Germany and in first stop in the Czech Rep. in Breclav are taken to refugee camps for processing.
Ok thanks, good to know! I haven't read about anything like what happened in the Budapest train station, but wanted to see if anyone on here knew more. I did read about demonstrations this coming Saturday in Prague in Wenceslas Square, not sure if that's correct or not? Hope there aren't any while I'm there in a few weeks!
You have nothing to fear from demonstrations in Prague. First, if they happen they will be small, second: they are almost always peaceful.
We were in Prague from Aug 29 to Sept. 2. We did not see any sign of the refugee crisis.
We just returned. Other than seeing news reports, you will not even realize that there is a problem. Safe travels!
Hi I'm planning to go for honeymoon from jakarta to paris, by flight to prague and train to vienna, insbruck and lucerne. I wonder how is the situation in the that particular city and how is the condition in train station, I heard from my friend that many of the train schedule was cancel because many of refugee trying to get into the train and the custom clearance didn't accomodate tourist so well. So my friend ask me to cancel the trip just go from paris to lucerne. I never been to prague and vienna...but I think it is a very beautiful place for honeymooner, I saw it on the net ;) we are planning to go fron paris to prague by plane and then from prague to vienna, innsbruck and lucerne by train. Please give us advise so i wouldnt ruin our honeymoon we are planning to go early November this year. Thank you very much.
We were in Vienna,Prague and Berlin earlier this month. Other than a bunch who boarded a UBahn in Vienna,we had no encounters.
We just did the Rick Steves Berlin/Prague/Vienna tour in September 2015. The only thing we observed was that all vehicles going into Germany from the Czeck Republic were being stopped and checked for refugees.
