Recommendations for walking tours/beer tours in Prague?

My husband and I will be in Prague for 4 nights early June. (Active 60/64 travelers)

Looking for recommendations for walking tour companies- free or not- and a good beer tour- not really into the rowdy pub crawl type thing - would just like an intro into Czech beer/brewing/pub scene, etc.

Well thank you- I actually have that site bookmarked already.

Was looking for recommendations of tours/companies that other travelers on this forum have had actual experience with.

I am in Prague several times of the year mainly for the beer and have done a few beer tours but not for a few years now, There are so many great places to try beer it is very easy to organise your own tour.

this website has lots of info on great pubs to try and there is a whole section on micro-breweries and they are all worth visiting.the micro breweries not only do great beer but the food in all the ones I have been in has been very good too.

there is a link from that website to the beer tours they help organise.
I am of a similar vintage to you (60 in a few months) and I will be back in Prague early April to celebrate my 60th birthday.
Worth looking out fro various beer events that may be on and the above website will be able to give you details, also in June the weather should be good so a trip to one of the many beer gardens is a must, my favourites being Riegrovy Sady and Letna beer gardens, Riegrovy in particular has a great range of beers available and has a stage and big screen TV for music and sporting events

I know you didn't ask about food tours but in my recent research for our Prague trip, I came across this website for what I hate to call a "food walking tour" as it seems much more than that.

Looks like they include some aspects of Czech beer in their tours which might be of interest to you. They were fully booked for our dates, but the various email correspondence I've had with them has been timely and informative.

I ended up buying their Prague Foodie Map and Guide online and it has been useful to us during our trip (...we're in Prague now).

Unclegus, then I am sure you know the pub U Kalicha (At Chalice). There are several others with Svejk theme.

yes, been in there a few times, it was the very first Svejk pub and the only Svejk themed pub that is mentioned in the book. I have also been to Hrusice to see the Lada museum (the man that did the drawing for the Svejk book) and saw the drawings from the book as well as lots of other Lada work.I even visited U Sejku the pub made famous by Lada,s painting the Bar Brawl.
Ilja , if you go to Trip advisor and look for my profile (Unclegus) you will actually see my Svejk tattoo as I use a photo of it for my Avatar.

jasonakeus
start another thread about your trip and I can maybe give some advice to bars and tours for such a group as yours.Road trip to Brno would be good as I know they have(or certainly did have) a Tram bar you can go on,travel the city whilst having a few beers.

I will be back in Prague in April so if there is anything you want me to check out just ask. I won't be in the city centre a great deal though will be in the general area some of the time

Rick has a great free walking tour you can download onto your phone. My niece spent a semester in Prague, and she had never even heard of some of the unique places Ricks walking tour covered. My wife and I each had it on our phones, and we were able to sync so we both were on the same track @ the same time.

Hi,
The book is out of print but many times it is available on ebay. "Prague Walks" by Ivana Edwards. This is a really nice book. It will take you just out of the way from the main flow and you will see some great sights. Follow the direction carefully, they are precise.

Thanks wayner- I actually see a copy now on eBay from a seller who is just down the road from me.
For less than $4 and free ship- can't beat that!

We have used Pathfinders for an Intro to Prague Tour, we took a bus, subway and walked to the main sites. Marie was fabulous, and paced the tour to us. I am sure she can do a good tour for you, Pathfinders, Marie and Tom Zahn: [email protected]
we are returning to Prague this fall with friends and will have Marie give us a tour again. (They also do genealogy research and tours, Tom is from the US, Marie is CZ)

There's a one-of-a-kind walking tour called Tour4Charity. The guides are really friendly, knowledgeable, and the tour is both informative and entertaining! Also, all ticket profits go to one of the local charities there and the guides rely on tips! I can only recommend them.
